  • In Colorado you must be 18 to buy or possess fireworks, and selling to anyone under 16 is prohibited. Buy only from a Colorado-licensed store, stand or tent. Aerial and explosive items that are sold legally in Wyoming are illegal to use or possess in Colorado.

  • In Missouri the minimum purchase age is set by the state fire marshal's regulations (11 CSR 40-3), so expect an age check at retail. Permitted seasonal and annual retailers sell fireworks during the fireworks season, and novelty caps and poppers are sold year-round.

  • South Dakota specifies no statewide minimum purchase age in statute, and fireworks are sold by licensed retail and special-retail dealers during seasonal windows. Neighboring states sell aerials that South Dakota bans, so buying across the line may still leave them illegal to use in South Dakota.

  • Wyoming's fireworks statutes (W.S. 35-10-201 through 35-10-208) set no statewide minimum age to buy or use consumer fireworks. Any age condition comes from county resolutions or city ordinances, which may also prohibit sale or use outright — and a local ban makes use or possession illegal regardless of where the fireworks were purchased. Violations are a misdemeanor: fine up to $750, up to 60 days, or both.
