Nevada has no vehicle-specific handgun rule. Carrying a concealed handgun on your person without a permit is a felony. A handgun worn openly is not concealed. Whether a handgun in a glove box or console counts as concealed on your person is not spelled out in the statute. The stricter reading is that it counts as concealed. Unless you hold a permit Nevada honors, do not keep a handgun hidden within reach. A rifle or shotgun with a round in the chamber may not be carried in a vehicle on a public road or any other way open to the public.

  • CaliforniaConditional

Without a California carry license, a handgun in a vehicle must be unloaded and locked in the trunk or in a locked container. The glove box and utility compartments do not count, even when locked, so do not rely on a center console. An out-of-state permit changes nothing. When you carry the handgun to or from the vehicle, it must stay unloaded and inside a locked container. The exemption is written for U.S. citizens over 18 who may lawfully have a firearm.
