- CaliforniaRestricted
Magazines that can hold more than 10 rounds are banned. It is a crime to bring one into California, or to buy, sell, give, lend or receive one here, and the statute also bans possessing one. Not covered: .22 caliber tube magazines, tubular magazines in lever-action guns, and magazines permanently altered to hold 10 rounds or fewer. A challenge to the ban, Duncan v. Bonta, is pending at the U.S. Supreme Court. The ban remains on the books.
