Arkansas bars automated speed enforcement except in a school zone, at a railroad crossing, or in a highway work zone (A.C.A. 27-52-110, 27-52-111). Even then, a certified law enforcement officer must issue the citation to the violator at the time of the violation. Arkansas Highway Police enforcing motor-carrier laws are exempt.

Red-light cameras and photo radar speed cameras are legal statewide in Colorado, at each locality's option. Photo radar is limited to school zones, residential zones, work zones, and streets next to parks, and a camera ticket carries no license points.

Kansas does not authorize camera enforcement: speed cameras and red-light cameras are not used, because a violation requires an officer's direct observation.

The Missouri Supreme Court struck down red-light and speed camera ordinances on due-process grounds in 2015, in the Tupper and Moline Acres line of cases. Camera tickets are not enforceable and the programs are largely defunct.

New Mexico has no statewide ban: automated speed and red-light enforcement is a local option, and municipalities such as Albuquerque and Las Cruces operate cameras under local ordinance.
