Idaho has no statutory duty to inform: Idaho Code § 18-3302, which allows permitless concealed carry statewide for eligible adults 18 and older, contains no provision requiring a carrier to notify an officer or to display the optional license on demand. Licenses are still issued for reciprocity and NICS-exemption purposes.

Tell any officer who contacts you in person that you are carrying a concealed firearm. The statute requires this when the officer asks, but the Attorney General's guidance says to inform on any in-person contact, so follow the stricter rule. Carry your driver's license or state ID and show it on request. A violation is a noncriminal offense with a $20 fee. Licensees must carry the license and hand it over on request.

  • South Dakota has no statutory duty to inform: the state has had permitless concealed carry since July 1, 2019, and nothing in SDCL chapter 23-7 requires a carrier to notify an officer or to produce a permit on demand. Optional regular, enhanced, and gold-card permits exist mainly for reciprocity.

  • WyomingConditional

Wyoming has no proactive duty to inform, but a permittee must carry the permit with valid identification whenever carrying concealed and display both at the request of any peace officer (Wyo. Stat. § 6-8-104(b)). Wyoming is a constitutional-carry state: permitless carriers under § 6-8-104(a)(iv) have no statutory duty to inform or to present.
