Conditional: With a Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL), or a concealed carry license from the state where you live, a handgun may be carried loaded in a vehicle, within the license's limits.
With a Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL), or a concealed carry license from the state where you live, a handgun may be carried loaded in a vehicle, within the license's limits. Without one, it must be unloaded, in a closed case made for firearms, in the trunk (or, in a vehicle with no trunk, in a case the occupants cannot readily reach), and carried for a lawful purpose. The pistol must also meet Michigan's pistol licensing law; visitors with no home-state license are not clearly covered.
