- MassachusettsRestricted
Massachusetts bans possessing, selling or importing any magazine or feed device that holds more than 10 rounds (or more than 5 shotgun shells). The only possession exception for private owners is for devices lawfully possessed on September 13, 1994, and only on private property, at a dealer or gunsmith for repair, at a licensed range or shooting competition, or while traveling to those places, unloaded and locked up. The listed exceptions do not include visitors.

- Rhode IslandRestricted
Rhode Island bans magazines that hold, or can readily be extended to hold, more than 10 rounds. The statute lists no exception for visitors, and the 2022 grace period for existing magazines has ended. Penalty: up to 5 years in prison or a fine of up to $5,000, plus forfeiture of the magazine. An attached tube holding only .22 rimfire is not covered. The U.S. Supreme Court declined to review the ban in June 2025.
