Tennessee Buying Cannabis (2026)
Restricted: Tennessee has no legal cannabis market and no dispensaries — marijuana cannot be legally purchased.
Tennessee has no legal cannabis market and no dispensaries — marijuana cannot be legally purchased. Hemp-derived cannabinoid products are regulated separately and are lawful only at or below 0.3% TOTAL THC on a dry weight basis — calculated as (THCa x 0.877) + delta-9 THC, not delta-9 alone — so a product low in delta-9 but high in THCa is not lawful hemp in Tennessee. Products over 0.3% total THC are illegal, and THCp and synthetic cannabinoids are prohibited in any amount. Sales are limited to TABC-licensed businesses and to buyers 21 and over. This standard took effect January 1, 2026, when oversight moved from the Department of Agriculture to the Alcoholic Beverage Commission; the legacy Department of Agriculture licenses that remained under the older 2023 standard all expired June 30, 2026.
