Nebraska Current Fire Restrictions (2026)
Info: Nebraska's baseline law (Neb. Rev. Stat. §81-520.01) is a statewide open-burning ban on bonfires, outdoor rubbish fires and land-clearing fires — waived only by a burn permit from your local fire chief (the State Fire Marshal's burn-permit page).
Nebraska's baseline law (Neb. Rev. Stat. §81-520.01) is a statewide open-burning ban on bonfires, outdoor rubbish fires and land-clearing fires — waived only by a burn permit from your local fire chief (the State Fire Marshal's burn-permit page). Gov. Pillen's 2026 emergency burn-permit suspension (Executive Order 26-08, which followed 26-06) was rescinded by Executive Order 26-10 effective April 2, 2026, and no burn-related executive order has been issued since — per the Governor's official executive-order register, which runs through EO 26-24 (October 15, 2026) — so local chiefs again issue open-burn permits. Counties and fire districts can impose local bans, permits are commonly suspended on red-flag/critical fire-weather days, and state parks may enforce temporary campfire bans. Check with your local fire department or the State Fire Marshal before burning.
