Washington bans manufacturing, importing, distributing, selling and offering for sale a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds, a gross misdemeanor, effective July 1, 2022. The law does not ban possessing one. Importing means moving one into the state, and the only exception is for a person returning with the same magazine they took out, so a visitor who brings one in may be charged.

  • OregonConditional

No Oregon magazine limit is in effect now. Measure 114, passed by voters in 2022, would ban magazines over 10 rounds, but a court injunction blocks it and the Oregon Supreme Court has not ruled. A 2026 law also bars it from applying before January 1, 2028. If it takes effect, possessing a larger magazine is a Class A misdemeanor, with limited exceptions. Check before you travel.
