New Jersey Concealed Carry Laws (2026)
Restricted: A New Jersey Permit to Carry a Handgun is required.
A New Jersey Permit to Carry a Handgun is required. Carrying a handgun without one is a second-degree crime. The permit allows carry only concealed, in a holster. The age is effectively 21, because the permit rules adopt the under-21 bar that applies to handgun permits. Non-residents may apply to the State Police. New Jersey does not honor other states' permits.
