Yes, if you carry concealed without a Maine-issued permit. You must tell the officer right away that you are armed when you first make contact during an arrest, detention or routine traffic stop. Failing to do so is a civil violation with a fine of up to $100. The law does not clearly exempt out-of-state permits, so tell the officer anyway. Any permit holder must carry the permit and show it on demand.
