No statewide Governor's burn ban is in effect. Oklahoma Forestry Services' official burn-ban layer, last edited October 13, 2026, shows 10 of Oklahoma's 77 counties under an active county burn ban: Caddo, Comanche, Cotton, Haskell, Le Flore, Lincoln, McCurtain, Pottawatomie, Sequoyah and Tillman. COTTON COUNTY WAS ADDED on October 13, 2026. JEFFERSON, KIOWA AND McCLAIN COUNTIES CAME OFF on October 12, 2026: the layer now shows no county burn ban for any of the 3. Stephens County, whose status on the layer had been blank, now shows no county burn ban (edited October 12, 2026). The other 67 counties, including Oklahoma County (Oklahoma City) and Tulsa County, show no county burn ban on the layer. The layer records all 10 as county-issued bans and flags no Governor-proclaimed ban. County commissioners must declare extreme fire danger before adopting a ban, and a county resolution is effective for no more than 14 days unless renewed by the same body. Where a county ban IS in effect it bans outdoor burning in that county; per ODAFF, violating a county-issued burn ban is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500 and/or up to one year in jail, and violating a Governor-issued ban up to $1,000 and/or one year. Any law enforcement officer in the state may enforce either kind. A Governor-proclaimed ban would supersede county bans; none is in effect right now. Bans change daily - confirm your county on the Oklahoma Forestry Services burn-ban map before any outdoor burning.
