Rhode Island limits Sunday sales: off-premises liquor stores (Class A licensees) may open no earlier than 10 a.m. and must close by 6 p.m. on Sunday, except that when the following Monday is a holiday they may stay open until 9 p.m. that Sunday. Liquor stores are the only off-premises channel - there is no grocery beer or wine. Monday through Saturday the hours are SEASONAL: from June 1 to October 31 a Class A store may not sell or deliver between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., and from November 1 to May 31 it may not sell or deliver between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. On legal holiday eves in the November 1 to May 31 window the close moves to 11 p.m. statewide and in Providence and Pawtucket, but the Central Falls provision carries no holiday-eve extension; when a legal holiday falls on a Monday, the preceding Saturday counts as the holiday eve. In the cities of Providence, Central Falls and Pawtucket the morning start is 9 a.m. rather than 7 a.m. all year round. Class A stores may not open at all on Thanksgiving Day, and they are not among the licensees permitted to sell on Christmas Day. R.I. Gen. Laws 3-7-23 (closing hours for Class A licenses) and 3-8-1 (sales on Sundays and holidays).
